A 98 year old woman died of natural causes more than a year ago. But her son apparently wanted to keep collecting her social security disability checks. I don’t know if he was looking at netbooks and wanting to buy one or what. But he froze his mother’s body and then collected and cashed her checks. Police received a tip that she had died and found her in a freezer chest. That’s definitely a cold hearted thing to do.
I read a very interesting news story the other day. Apparently this was also on the Today Show a while ago, but I didn’t see that.
Anyhoo- the story- a woman ate the engagement ring her boyfriend had put into her drink. He had actually planned to propose to her the next night at a fancy restuarnt. But he couldn’t wait, so he put the engagement ring in her Frosty at Wendy’s. Her friends knew what was going on and challenged her to see who could eat their frosty the fastest. She gobbled hers down and ate the ring.
She now has the ring and quite a story to tell. Someday when she and her husband are deciding on term life insurance rate they can tell their grandchildren the story of their engagement. It should bring laughs for years to come.
Some people are really unbelievable, but this story really shocked me. I am pretty much used to the crazy things people do, but not this.
Two ladies set up an elaborate scheme to collect lots of money. They made up fictitious people, bought insurance policies and waited for them to mature. Then the two worked as funeral workers to bury these fake people and collect insurance money. There were quite a few people involved in this mess.
Why not just find a legitimate job? They could have invested in a baby jogger stroller business and made money that way. Instead they committed this crazy crime.
You come home from an evening out. You find a burglar leaving your house with your expensive jewelry and electronic items. The burglar realizes he is caught. So, he apologizes and puts the items back that he was stealing.
Is the apology enough for you? It wouldn’t be for me. And it wasn’t enough for a New Hampshire homeowner that it actually happened to.
I guess the burglar realized it would be better to just look for economy hotels promotions to save some money than to steal from someone else. Either way, police are looking for him.
I love to watch Dr Phil and I always get a kick out of it when he says, “How’s that working for you?” People come there to get his advice and help and then make every excuse under the sun for why they are acting the way they are. So when responds with that question- I just love it.
So when I read today about a woman who handcuffed herself to her husband because she wanted to reconcile and talk without him leaving, I thought of that question. I don’t think it worked out very well for her. She ended up biting him as well. And also ended up getting arrested.
Her husband ought to invest in some good identity theft protection and be on his way- far away from her!
Recently a woman bought a used couch from a thrift store. After she got it home she started hearing a funny sound. One night as her boyfriend was sitting on the couch watching TV he felt something moving. When he moved the couch he found a cat inside. It had apparently crawled inside a small hole in the bottom.
The original owner heard the story from a friend who saw it on TV and claimed his cat. He had donated his couch and his cat had disappeared at the same time. So it was a happy ending.
So now do you think people will try to sneak into other countries using this method? If they get caught doing it though they are going to need to contact some immigration lawyers. They would be better off doing it the legal way.
I was reading an interesting news article today. A new mother was able to leave the hospital with her newborn baby. But apparently on her way out of the hospital she stole another new mother’s purse. The purse had a cell phone and digital camera in it. The the woman sold the cell phone and camera. Unfortunately she didn’t need the money for a new pair of UGG boots but rather for money for drugs. So very sad what kind of life she has and the kind of life her newborn baby is starting out with.
I read a funny and entertaining news story today that I just had to share.
A Florida woman called 911 from McDonalds because she couldn’t get the 10 piece Chicken McNuggets that she wanted. She had paid for her food and then was told that the McNuggets were gone so she had to pick something else. She picked something else but the cost was less so she wanted the difference back. But the cashier wouldn’t give her the difference back. I don’t know if she didn’t know how or what. The woman ended up calling 911 three different times. I don’t know why work holding she didn’t just ask for the general managers phone number or something. Anyways- she has now been cited for misuse of 911.
A man in Massachusetts was convicted of assaulting Chuck-E-Cheese. He and his family were at Chuck-E-Cheese for a birthday celebration for his 11 year old son. The son told his father that Chuck-E-Cheese had pinned him against a video game. So, the man- apparently having no self-control- assaulted the mouse. He ripped off the mouse’s head piece and put his finger in his face and yelled at him.
It was determined in court that Chuck-E-Cheese had actually just bumped the boy while trying to get through the crowd. This was confirmed by a witness. The man was ordered to pay a $500 fine. He could have used that money for one of the many nice tv stands there are out there. Instead, because he lost his temper- he had to use that money to pay a fine.
Now hopefully you’re not doing this- since it’s against the law. But, say you’re planning to rob a gas station. What is one thing you would make sure you did before you robbed the gas station? I’m not an expert on robbing anything since I’ve never stolen anything in my whole life. But, play along with me here. You might have a mask of some sort, a plan of where you were going to go afterwards, etc. Oh- and you would also want to make sure you had enough gas in your car to get away. Right?
Well, not the 23 year old who used a Bowie knife to rob a Cape Haze (Fl.) gas station. After he robbed the gas station a customer followed him and called 911. The police were out looking for him when a newspaper carrier saw a car that matched the one described in the robbery. Apparently he had ran out of gas nearby. After robbing a gas station, of all things. Why didn’t he just fill up first? He was arrested several hours after the robbery.
Next time he might want to think it through a little better.
