I am really excited about doing some shopping this year for Christmas.  Shopping for all of our extended family members as well as a toddler and a teenager should prove to be interesting.  I am ready to get started looking for the best prices that I can find.  I am so thankful for the Internet for this reason- it really saved me a lot of money last year at Christmas time.  I bought quite a few gifts using Amazon.com and was able to save quite a bit of money by doing that.  I plan to look for the best buys that I can find again this year using sites like buy.com and Amazon.com.  Hopefully the stores have used some free seo software to make sure I can easily find their sites!

I recommend that you get started now looking for the best prices that you can find.  It’s a lot easier to shop around when you have a lot of time- so hurry up and get started!

I will not claim to be an absolute expert on a trip to Disney World but we have gone many times so I have a few tips to offer.

We have done the trip where we stayed off of Disney property, rented a car, left Disney to eat meals (to save money), etc.  We have also done the trip where we stayed on a Disney property and this is by far the much better option for us.

A few of the benefits we love include:

1. Free pick up at the airport.  They get your luggage from the airplane, take it right to your hotel room, etc.  You do not have to worry about a lugging all of your stuff through the airport.
2. After you get picked up at the airport you can go to your hotel to check in and then head right off to the parks using the free transportation.  They take you from one park to another and to all of the various resorts.
3. We love the Magic Your Way dining plan.  You pay a fee to have this added to your package.  Each day you get a meal at a sit down restaurant, a meal at a quick service restaurant and a snack.  The meals each include an appetizer, your main course and dessert.  The food is way more than enough.  You save an incredible amount of money doing it this way.
4. We also love the park hopper tickets.  You can visit several parks in one day.  You can start your day out at Animal Kingdom when the animals are most active and end your day at Epcot with the spectacular lights show.
5. Each day there will be a park that will open early or stay open late for Disney guests.  The lines are short and the crowds are small.  This is reason enough for me to stay at a Disney hotel.

You can also choose to stay in one of the downtown disney hotels. When we went on our honeymoon that is where we stayed- and we can an amazing time! Although it wasn’t actually on Disney property it was still fun.

There are several times of year when the crowds are considerably smaller and we are coming in to that season right now.  Hurry on over to Disney and start planning your next trip.

Getting your young child to brush his or her teeth can be a struggle, especially with toddlers.  But of course, having good dental hygiene is important, so what should you do?

Find out if the problem stems from a behavior issue- a power struggle, or a sensitivity issue- it hurts.  If it is a sensitivity issue you will need talk to your childs dentist about a different way to brush your child’s teeth.

If it’s about a power struggle you will want to make the process more fun.  Here are a few ideas:

1. Let your child pick out several different toothbrushes.  Then each time he brushes his teeth he can pick a different toothbrush.
2. Brush your child’s teeth while she is brushing yours.

3. Make it a part of your daily routine- always right after breakfast and again before bed time.  Or whatever times work for you.
4. Have your child make fun noises while you brush his teeth.  Roar like a lion, growl like a bear, etc.
5. Let her brush her teeth herself and praise her for doing a great job.
6. Offer stickers for rewards.
7. Don’t stress about it, your child knows when you’re getting tense or stressed and it only makes the situation worse.
8. Talk to your child’s pediatrician or dentist to get more advice.

I know that most people are usually looking for some ways to save some money.  Especially with how our economy is right now, most of us don’t have a whole lot of extra money to spend.  One way you can save yourself some money is to make sure you are getting several insurance quotes.  Now, I don’t mean that you are getting bad service.  I mean you need to make sure you are getting the cheapest possible rates that you can.  This may require some time on your part- calling around to various companies for quotes- but it will be well worth your time.

When my husband I first got married we spent quite a bit of time looking for the best insurance company for our insurance needs.  And by we, I mean me.  I made a lot of phone calls.  I made sure we got all of the discounts possible.  And we are definitely saving quite a bit of money on our insurance.  So, make sure you shop around for the best rates.

One nice warm summer day a few weeks after I got married I was driving home from my beloved job.  Okay- the job was not beloved.  But, actually looking back on that job it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was at the time.  I had a good friend there who I had a lot of fun with.  Anyhoo- that is not what this story it about.  I was driving home after a long hard day when the traffic in front of my stopped.  The guy behind me?  He did not stop.  He hit the back of my car and actually lifted it up in the air causing damage to my bumper and underneath the back of my car.

Fortunately no one was seriously hurt.  I had an injury that I thought was to my back- that is where it hurt.  But it turned out that the injury was actually in my pelvis, which made my back hurt.   That wasn’t figured out until several months later.  My car did have some damage and it sure could have used some new auto accessories.

I was actually able to get several more good years out of that car.  And then I sold it and the next owner still has it as far as I know.  I’m still kicking too… so we both survived.

You know what would make me really happy?  A surprise bouquet of roses from my hubby.  You know- just to say I’m thinking about you and I love you.  Honestly the chances of that happening are pretty slim.  But, if he did do something like that I would never forget it! ukf8001axx

I knew that the color of roses have various meanings, but I learned several new meanings today.  I am still going to stick with red for my favorite color roses because it means “I love you.”  But if my hubby were to give me any color roses I would be thrilled!

A 98 year old woman died of natural causes more than a year ago.  But her son apparently wanted to keep collecting her social security disability checks.  I don’t know if he was looking at netbooks and wanting to buy one or what.  But he froze his mother’s body and then collected and cashed her checks.  Police received a tip that she had died and found her in a freezer chest.  That’s definitely a cold hearted thing to do.

Back during the summer my husband and I were planning a trip to Disney World with my family.  We had the dates all set and were ready to make our reservations.  Then some things came up for one of the groups who was supposed to be going.  We tried to make it work out and to figure out when everyone could go, but it just didn’t happen.  So, now whenever I see people talking about their Disney vacations I start to feel sad thinking about how we are not going.  I had even started doing a series on how to plan your Disney trip since we have been a few times.  Now I don’t want to finish the series because it makes me depressed. Maybe we’ll just get an RV and an rv extended warranty and hit the road ourselves!

I read a very interesting news story the other day.  Apparently this was also on the Today Show a while ago, but I didn’t see that.

Anyhoo- the story- a woman ate the engagement ring her boyfriend had put into her drink.  He had actually planned to propose to her the next night at a fancy restuarnt.  But he couldn’t wait, so he put the engagement ring in her Frosty at Wendy’s.  Her friends knew what was going on and challenged her to see who could eat their frosty the fastest.  She gobbled hers down and ate the ring.

She now has the ring and quite a story to tell.  Someday when she and her husband are deciding on term life insurance rate they can tell their grandchildren the story of their engagement.  It should bring laughs for years to come.
