Our economy is in rough shape.  My husband, who loves to report to me every few minutes how the DOW is doing, just told me that we had another down day.  We are losing money like crazy here in the Tips and Tricks household.  Since we are young we have been advised to hang tight.  That’s pretty hard to do when you see your hard earned money sliding away each and every day.  I can’t even imagine how people who are closer to retirement are feeling right now.

Fortunately we are still able to pay all of our bills, we didn’t depend on the money we’ve lost in the stock market.  But, my husbands job has been suffering from this.  He works from home, with his own business and many of his clients are being affected and therefore not spending money like they did in the past.  Which of course means he is making less money than he did in the past.  We have been very careful with our finances.  After some mistakes we made in the past we learned a great deal.  The only “debt” we have is our home.  We don’t have credit card bills or car payments.  If we don’t have the money for something, we don’t buy it.  End of story.  That is why we are still able to pay all of our bills.
